The Association of Medical Students is involved in a wide range of activities:
1. Providing medical students with opportunities for qualification and experience in the field of medicine
• Exchange programs of IFMSA;
• Organizing courses and lectures delivered by bulgarian and foreign proffesors from partner universities (Brighton University). Topics: emergancy neurology, infectious diseases, doctor-patient relationship creation skills, problem-based learning modules, manipulation skills etc.
2. Organizing the social life in the medical universities:
• Events marking important dates for the university and the country (Promotion of the graduate students, concerts, exhibitions);
• Sport championships (football, table tennis, card and computer games, darts etc.);
• Parties :).
3. Carrying out public health and reproductive health campaigns:
• Stop AIDS campaign (December);
• Contraception campaign (March – May);
• Anti-Tobacco campaign (31 st of May);
• Teddy bear hospital campaign (March - May);
• Anti Hypertension campaign (17th of May);
• Hepatitis B immunization campaigns among medical students – fall.
• Charity campaigns
4. Organizing scientific forums:
• International Congress for Medical Students – Sofia , May – www.icmsbg.org ;
• International Science Congress – Pleven , May.
5. Putting forward medical education initiatives:
• Courses aimed at improving the teaching skills of the tutors.
6. Providing a link between the students and the university government:
• Debates involving students and tutors on contemporary ethical and university issues.
7. Organizing summits:
• National meetings of ASMB – spring and fall;
• International meetings – for example EMSA conference Plovdiv 2005.
8. Public relation activities
• Publishing of the magazine “In vivo” – national medical students' magazine
• Maintenance of the site of AMSB
