The Association of medical students in Bulgaria /AMSB/ was found on the 3rd of March 1990 by several enthusiastic medical students, decided to face the challenges of the changing society. They pointed out the main goals of the association which are valid till now:
- Unification the medical students in Bulgaria
- Improvement of their professional qualification and social status
- Support and cooperation in solving educational, community and social problems of the medical students
- Organizing the social life of the Medical Universities
- Providing opportunities for part-time jobs and exchanges abroad

AMSB is independent, non-political, nongovernmental, nonreligious, democratic organization of the medical students from the whole country. It is legally registered in the Sofia court of justice. AMSB started relations with IFMSA from the spring of 1990, in 1993 it became a candidate- member and from 1994 AMSB is a full member of IFMSA.

Members of amsb are more than 500 medical students from all over the country. The membership is free and voluntary. We have 5 actively working local committees /LC's/ - in the medical universities /MUs/ in Sofia, Plovdiv and Pleven. Varna and Stara Zagora. The structure of the association consists of General Assembly - GA /all the members from all the LCs/; executive board and control council /elected every year by the GA/. We organize EB meetings every week during the whole year and national meetings and Gas two times a year. The main regulation document of the AMSB is our constitution, which can be changed by the GA.

As any other NMO we have a national Executive Board as well as local committees in all the medical faculties. Generally they consist of 9 medical students with everyone responsible for a particular activity. The EB is elected once a year at the General Assembly along with the Control Council. AMSB takes part in other organizations (e.g. IFMSA, "Coalition Anti-AIDS" and others) as well as in different campaigns ("Contraception", "Anti-Tobacco", charity actions).
